Hi Chashood, Firmware updates, especially for drives, should generally be applied only if there is a specific issue that the firmware was issued to fix. So I would recommend you leave things as they are.

It would also be worth running Seagate's own diagnostics tools as well (SeaTools?) Idea

To add a bit of info to DaveT's post: there is a known issue with some Seagate drives that came to light earlier this year (see Dell's article below). It's a good bet the CD you got is to address this...
