When I switch on last couple of days, I can hear the hard drive (?) motor(?) / fan sound rising and falling like a siren, as if the pc is trying to boot but is unable. The monitor remains in darkness.

I am getting conflicting advice on upgrading my bios. Some say, if it isnt broke, dont fix it. Others say I should upgrade the bios as soon as it becomes available. Which is true? My computer is a XPS 8300 purchased last December. I see that a bios update is available.

There are only 3 manuals in the Dell download area for the T3500 (Setup & Features Info; Service Manual; Replacing the Hard drive tray)...none of these addresses how to use specific features. More specifically, I need to know how to configure the on-board audio.

I recently made a system password on a 5100. There was problems right from the start. First, when I was in the set up, setting up the password, I kept getting several asterisks for each key stroke. When I finished and rebooted, it keeps asking for a system password, and the password does not work.

So my XPS 420 refurb came with 8600 GTS and 375W power supply. According to some research 8600 GTS requires 350W power supply. I bought a GT 440 which requires 300W. Can I still use my current power supply? I wonder if this power supply was enough to begin with?
