I've recently bought a Dell Inspiron 660 running Windows 8 which has been working well. However, in the last week, it's been randomly switching to just a black screen and no keys / mouse etc have any effect. The only solution is to reboot, which works.
Before you try reinstalling the OS, it might be helpful to do a little troubleshooting to determine if this is a hardware or software problem. Reinstalling Windows means you'll lose all your data on the hard drive, unless it's backed up on external media first.

I'm having old Inspiron 1000 ( Service tag:) that has BIOS password set on. I don't know the password. I've tried common passes for Phoenix bios. Tried BIOS reset by removing cmos battery but password remains.
hello i have ordered an alienware m14 laptop and the dilivery date seems reasonable and its at june 5 it was ordered may 16. i have seen several recent complaints about excessively long build and delivery times though i have not seen many this year.
I have the above machine and am getting speedtest.net speeds of around 1.6Mb/s (over wireless and ethernet). At the same time, on my mobile phone I get speeds of around 11.6Mb/s (wireless). That tells me the issue is with the machine, not my internet connection or ISP.

I ordered 2 U2412M Flat Panel Monitors with my new XPS 8500. The Startup Guide suggests using the DVI cable to connect them but I only have 1 DVI port on the XPS. How do I connect the second monitor?
Not sure if this is just me, or Windows 8, or the new XPS laptop, but I am repeatedly experiencing problems when I try to scroll on my mousepad with a two finger gesture.
