@Laudi Do you have any SonicWALL Firewall or any other network appliance in place? Some anti-malware and virus detection have been know to show false positives and block certain driver packs.

I would think the only place there would be a problem is with GCC. The last GCC GPL 2.0 licensed compiler was 4.21. The extensions didn't get incorporated until the newer GCC 4.6, which is under the new GPL 3.0 license. The place where they run into trouble is when they use a GPL 3.

It would be nice to add E5-2650Lv3 to this comparison.

I made some inquiries about this post over three weeks ago, and the website promised a response in 24h. When might I expect my comment to be made public, at least?

You're losing my business soon. It's not because Dell's customer service has gone from A1 to abysmal. It's not because Dell "repaired" my son's laptop twice, replacing the lcd with defective units both times.

you33see: Sorry to see the problems with your old machine. Unfortunately, data transfer and software troubleshooting is not something that is covered under Dell's system warranty. I will send you an e-mail to get more details to see if there's anything else we can do.

The 64-bit version of OMSA does not support the PERC4 so the only way to manage it is to force the installation of the 32-bit version of OMSA. Under RHEL/CentOS this is possible but it is not an option yet with Ubuntu server. Thanks again. -Eric

OMSA 6.4 64-bit doesn't recognize Perc 4 storage controllers. Has anyone found a fix? I tried installing the 32-bit deb packages, but the Perc 4 controllers still weren't detected. Please help!

Thanks for such a through post on the memory options - its a bit clearer to me now though still tough to figure out the best options. I'm seeing on a R510 the "optimized" memory configs are mostly 3x number of modules but they list the speed as 1066mhz.

One thing to point out in the VM SQL third paper. The last time I checked HA and FT is not supported by VMware on 2 vCPU as the paper uses for their test. We wanted to do that same setup and use HA and FT but learned it was not supported.

Michael, Great news, and thanks to you as a Debian/Ubuntu advocate and Canonical for the donated effort! As a facility that has thousands of Debian Dell systems, we most certainly welcome any movement in that direction. --stephen

Hi Michael Is there an online demo available for us to look at? Thanks Andrew

This is great news. But why aren't there any 32bit packages yet?
