Except while programs are running, you really don't need temp files. Some programs create a temporary file every time you use the program. This produces duplication. You can safely put your temp files in the wastebasket.

Thanks M. Last night I figured out that I could get rmm.pdr and bigmem.drv out of "cab" files in my system directory. These two showed up in the step-by-step "bootlog.txt" report. Once I recovered these I was able to get windows up, but my system does not recognize my floppy, CD or DVD drives.

Hi there! If it's any consolation I have been having the same nightmare problems for a year now! It happened almost as soon as I bought my PC. I tried the Dell Support Desk who tried to help and talked me through all the reinstallations and settings going - these didn't work.

If you have the time and are willing to do so, could I get you to collect the log files and send them to support@pc-doctor.com attn James, so that we can take a look at to what could be going on? There are three locations that I would need you to look for the logs.

I would think the only place there would be a problem is with GCC. The last GCC GPL 2.0 licensed compiler was 4.21. The extensions didn't get incorporated until the newer GCC 4.6, which is under the new GPL 3.0 license. The place where they run into trouble is when they use a GPL 3.
