When I switch on last couple of days, I can hear the hard drive (?) motor(?) / fan sound rising and falling like a siren, as if the pc is trying to boot but is unable. The monitor remains in darkness.

Every 3 or 4 days my computer will not boot to Windows. It completes POST but will not go past the STARTING WINDOWS screen. I turn it OFF and ON and it opens on a message stating that the computer cannot start and asking if I want to go to System Restore.

I bought a Dell XPS 8500 desktop with Windows 7 Professional (64 bit version) and it came preloaded with the Dell Support Center software. All of a sudden I am getting the following message when I try to bring up the program. License Authentication Failed.

I recently had to re-install my Dell XPS 400 operating system from scratch, all was going well untill I noticed no sound. I went to the "Device Manager" and under Other Devices there was a list of items that had yellow question marks next to them.

I added a drive letter to the Recovery Partition, which initially had no drive letter. Now when I boot the computer (Dell Studio XPS 8100 64-bit O.S. Windows 7 Pro) and press F8, the Partition info does not appear. Can I reverse it back to the way it was before or is it too late?

Can't find an answer anywhere in the pages for the T3500 -- I just bought a refurbished box that was supplied with no bezel (specifically in the system component list, "YJ614, Module,Information,NO-BZL 1394,Precision Workstation,390"). Why would someone buy a T3500 without a bezel? Rack mount?

so my t5400 crashed and wouldn't recover, bad memory controller. So i bought a replacement MB on eBay. installed it, machine powered up, and i tried to set the configuration. it restarted and wouldn't post. only 2 short beeps.

I have an optiplex 580 with a solid amber light and 2,3,4 leds blinking. I can not get the desktop to post or give me a beep code or anything. Originally, I ordered a new MB to swap with the old one and that did not fix the problem.

5. Would you be ok stripping the machine back, removing the Hard drive / Memory / Optical / Graphics / & any add on cards and power on then see if the fans kick in again. if they dont, add one part at a time and power on, and see what part effects the system.

Unfortunately, (at least for me) dell floppy drives are designed so that their power cable is too short to use a 'generic' drive. Previously purchased a "refurbished" dell floppy about a year ago ($50 with S&H) which is now giving me this error.

Brand new Dell running win7 sp1 12 gigs of RAM and Dell 2711 monitor. Windows Media center says I can't display" system not capable of diosplay protected cntent". I recognize this can't be true (I hope) since I have a Dual-link DVI cable and access to HDMI as a backup if needed.
