I have the Inspiron 1764, Windows 7, 64 bit operating system with Intel i5. I must have bought the lemon in the bunch because the computer continues to give me the white screen. I sent my computer to Dell twice while it was in warranty first updating all the software with the reps over the phone.
I was reading that the monitor has this Dynamic Dimming? Which I'm assuming is what I'm noticing. Is there a way to turn it off? I don't see the option on the monitor. I'm using the factory settings on the monitor and Adaptive Brightness setting on the computer is turned off.
I am asking here because, in the event that this computer's Operating System becomes corrupt, or catches a virus, and needs a reformat, what should I do? In the old days, I used to boot from installation media and format the hard drive, then "clean install" any given OS.
After I upgrade from ubuntu 12.10 to 13.04 I can't change the brightness of the display, it remain in the darkest possible mode. Any advice? There is a "Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [8086:0166] (rev 09)" inside.

Hello, I bought an Alienware M14x R2 about 6 months ago. At the beginning all was working fine, really fine. However, from a couple months ago until now I am not able to play in the same way. I am getting FPS drop on every game that I play. What should I do? I simply don't know.I followed
It"s not the problem of the card> Its the cased that the XPS is built in. My XPS 14 made in the year 2001 was fine at the same table from my router but now the shiny XPS 15 hads an antenna problem. On my 2nd XPS 15 and still no signal Dell is no help, pay 2300.
I have E6330 but can't get the Display Port working via E-Port II or with my older E-port. Display Port works fine with my old E6400 (Nvidia GPU) on both docking stations. Bios is latest A09, and Video driver is latest Intel HD 9.17.10.3040. DVI works, but only 1920x1080 I need the display
When I flip the screen to go into tablet mode, after a short while, the touch stops working. The screen still shows what it's supposed to, but it won't register my fingers (or anyone elses...) I have seen another post about a similar problem at the forum (http://en.community.dell.
