The punchline: I can no longer boot my Inspiron 530 into either Windows Vista or Windows 7 since I made a switch in the BIOS to allow for Spinrite software to run. The details: Since the day I got my Inspiron 530, it had run Windows Vista.
Have unplugged and reinstalled all cables, removed HD (have been able to get HD running on other computers if there was dust or speck of dirt jamming HD, just to get it running long enough to save data) Still will not start up..Monitor shows "no signal" as computer will not start at all.
Do I need to purchase an Active PFC surge protector/battery backup for my new Latitude? I find nothing about the power supply on my order and don't know if I need a pure sine wave backup or if a conventional UPS is fine. Also what should I be looking for - like 650VA or 1000VA?

Hi, after update from 8.0 on 8.1 64 bit i can´t play any video from PC/USB, only from youtube. WMP / VLC 2.1.1 / Power DVD 10.0 - after trying open video file - .... player has crashed and should be closed. Where should be problem ?
This XPS 15 9530 laptop (SSD/91WH Battery) can't get much over 9 hours of battery life, even at total idle, screen fully dimmed (no auto brightness), and just the desktop screen showing from a fresh restart.
I just got my XPS 8700 and wanted to install ubuntu on it. I needed to disable secure boot to install ubuntu. So after installation, with secure boot windows was loading and without secure boot ubuntu's grub was loading and I couldn't run windows from grub.
